Moisture Mapping Miscellaneous
Will a moisture test detect mold?
Moisture mapping is a process of identifying areas of moisture intrusion in a building or structure. It is often used to find the source of mold growth, as mold needs moisture to survive. However, a moisture test cannot always detect mold. Mold can grow in areas that are not easily accessible or visible, and it can also grow on materials that do not show signs of moisture damage. If you are concerned about mold growth in your home or other structure, it is important to have it inspected by a qualified professional.
Here are some of the limitations of moisture testing for mold detection:
- Moisture tests can only detect moisture that is present at the time of the test.
- Moisture tests cannot detect mold that is growing in hidden areas or on materials that do not show signs of moisture damage.
- Moisture tests cannot distinguish between different types of mold.
Despite these limitations, moisture mapping can be a valuable tool for finding the source of mold growth. If you are concerned about mold in your home or other structure, you should have it inspected by a qualified professional.
